Finding calm and harmony in Delphia 12 Sedan, a thoughtful retirement project

After a long career and years of riding my motorcycle, I felt it was time to trade speed for serenity.

I'm Daniel Flammarion, and this is the story of my ideal retirement aboard my Delphia 12 Sedan.

This elegant 12-meter boat has become my floating den for vacations and weekends, perfectly embodying the “slow life” philosophy I've embraced.

Discovering the Delphia 12 Sedan : love at first sight

My nautical adventure began in 2012 with a competitor's boat. But it was in 2017 that I discovered the Delphia 12 Sedan in Aigues-Mortes. As soon as I stepped aboard, I was captivated by its practical, well-optimized layout and its 360° panoramic view, a major asset. The feeling of safety and comfort won me over immediately.

In December 2022, I acquired this model, marking the start of a new life.

My goal? To find peace and quiet, to take my time, but above all, to enjoy the present moment.
With our river and coastal driving licence in hand, my wife and I like to spend a lot of time together to recharge our batteries aboard our Delphia 12 Sedan.

The transition to a slower, richer life

Through boating, I've found a new kind of serenity. Cruising has enabled me to appreciate slowness, to reconnect with myself and with nature.

My wife and I spend most of our time at sea in summer, from mid-May to mid-August, as well as in the off-season. We set off to discover the wild anchorages and hidden gems of the Mediterranean. Based in Aigues-Mortes, we diversify our programs, exploring the canals, tasting oysters on the Thau, and letting ourselves be carried along by the water according to our desires and the weather.

Aigues-Mortes, the start of an adventure

Our adventures always start in Aigues-Mortes, where the historic ramparts and local markets add a touch of magic to every departure.

We also enjoy the tranquility of the canals.

Bandol, the bay of simple pleasures

In Bandol, our first stopover, we anchor in clear, sheltered moorings.
There, I relax with a good book while my wife explores the coastal paths.

Porquerolles, the natural escape

Porquerolles, an island paradise, is a favorite spot with its beaches and paths through the garrigue.
It's an ideal setting for reconnecting with nature.
Cycling in the national park is like entering another world.

Les Embiez, a haven of peace

Les Embiez, rich in biodiversity, is perfect for wild moorings.

I love snorkeling to discover the seabed and the fish it shelters.

Le Frioul, Mediterranean tranquillity

In Frioul, isolated creeks offer moments of absolute peace.

Cruising between these islands and watching dolphins play in our wake is a magical experience.

Corsica, a love story

Crossing to Corsica is always a special moment. The island's west and east coasts offer spectacular moorings, from fine sandy beaches to steep cliffs.
Each visit reinforces our love for this island.

Elba Island and the Italian coast, between history and nature

The island of Elba, with its rich historical heritage, and the Italian coast, offer a variety of stopovers.
My wife and I enjoy exploring picturesque villages and local markets, and savoring authentic Italian cuisine.

Life on board, comfort and autonomy

For us, life on board is all about discovering small, sheltered creeks to spend the night, rather than the port.

Along the way, we've met other cruisers, including another Delphia 12 Sedan owner, and shared some good times together, while following our own itinerary. We often meet up in the evening to enjoy dinner together.

Life aboard the Delphia 12 Sedan is synonymous with comfort and autonomy.

The two cabins can accommodate friends, making every cruise a convivial one. Thanks to our 600-liter water tanks and solar panels, we can be self-sufficient for a long time and enjoy a high level of independence. In addition to our electrical autonomy, our large storage spaces allow us to carry plenty of food.

The “slow life” philosophy

For me, “slow life” means taking the time to enjoy each moment, reconnecting with nature and living in harmony.

Cruising on lakes, rivers and along coastlines allows us to slow down and enjoy the beauty of the world. Aboard our Delphia 12 Sedan, we've adopted a slower, more mindful lifestyle.

Every stop, every moment on board is an interlude of serenity and discovery, we take full advantage of a cruising experience that corresponds to the Delphia brand boat program.

As we cruised along, I found the perfect speed for comfort, range and fuel consumption: 7 knots. Among my most beautiful memories, I'll always remember that meeting with the dolphins, a magical moment, or the time we had to navigate in a 2.50 m swell.
