Our tips for sustainable cruising with Delphia
For several years now, Delphia has been committed to offering you a navigation experience that combines comfort and respect for the environment. That's why we are committed to designing our boats in an eco-responsible manner, while sharing with you some tips for cruising more sustainably.
Here are a few recommendations to adopt the right reflexes and fully enjoy your outing, while preserving the nature that surrounds us.
Adopt the mindset of a responsible sailor
Navigating responsibly is above all a state of mind.
Our first piece of advice? Take the time to savor every moment. The breath of the wind, the gentle lapping of the water, the birds flying in the distance...
Enjoy the nature around you and share these moments with your loved ones.
In addition to slowing down, there are a few small habits that you may already follow on a daily basis that can be applied at sea: consume reasonably, buy in bulk to avoid excess packaging, or use sunscreen that respects both your skin and the environment.
Think of other boaters too! Courtesy and respect for local rules are essential for everyone to enjoy the water peacefully. If you are crossing a protected area or going abroad, take a moment to find out about the rules to follow and avoid unpleasant surprises.
Prepare your trip well
Did you know that responsible cruising starts long before you cast off? For example, we advise you to limit plastic packaging when shopping. Choose products without unnecessary packaging and opt for more sustainable solutions.
Be careful with fresh water and limit waste, as it is a precious resource! The same goes for fuel: fill the tank carefully to avoid any overflow.
At Delphia, we are also committed to renewable energies. That's why you'll find solar panels on many of our models. With their large windows offering a 360° view, our boats are designed to maximize natural light and promote optimal ventilation. In summer, they prevent overheating, and in winter, they conserve heat.
On the water…
Once at sea, be sure to sort your waste properly and make sure you don't leave anything behind. For wastewater, use the facilities provided to avoid pollution. Our boats have large tanks that can store this water safely until you return to port.
For washing dishes and maintaining the boat, be careful with your drinking water consumption. Prefer to cruise at a moderate speed to save fuel and limit gas emissions.
Back at the dock…
Once at the dock, a few good practices can make all the difference: be careful when mooring and anchoring to avoid damaging the seabed. Also, favor the use of port facilities (showers, toilets, etc.) rather than those of the boat, and opt for biodegradable products for the maintenance of your boat.
If you need to antifoul, choose suitable facilities and use products specifically designed to minimize environmental impact.
Together, these actions contribute to preserving our waters and guaranteeing sustainable practices for future generations.
Eco-design of boats at Delphia
On our side, we have made thoughtful choices to limit our impact. For example, the materials used for the hull and deck of our boats include balsa wood grown in sustainable plantations. The same goes for the wood in our interior furniture, while our decks are made of synthetic materials partly made from recycled bottles.
And all this without compromising on comfort and aesthetics!
Cruising in silence with our ecological engines
For propulsion, we offer two options: thermal engines from Yanmar, known for their low fuel consumption, and a 100% electric propulsion developed in collaboration with Torqeedo, the leader in e-mobility on the water.
With these engines, you benefit from silent navigation, with no CO2 emissions or fuel odor.
